Pro Wrestling Guerrilla presents DIO! on Friday, June 11, 2010 at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA, at 8:00PM. Front Row and General Admission tickets for DIO! are on sale now, and this event is scheduled to feature:

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship Title Match
¡Peligro Abejas! (El Generico & Paul London – Champions) vs. Brian Kendrick & “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen

– After enduring three brutal rounds at DDT4 to win the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship titles, El Generico and Paul London figured whatever came next would seem easy by comparison. Obviously, El Generico and Paul London did not expect A, The Spanish Inquisition, and B, the inventive nature of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors. After all, according to the Board, if ¡Peligro Abejas! were able to withstand the test of defeating three separate teams in a single night, their next challenge would have to be substantial. That is why their first defense of the World Tag Team titles will be against the two men in the entire world of professional wrestling that know the champions better than anyone else: Brian Kendrick and Kevin Steen.

While they may seem like an unlikely pair, Brian Kendrick and Kevin Steen have much more in common than one might initially observe. Prior to DDT4, Brian Kendrick and Kevin Steen regularly teamed with the newly crowned champions (Kendrick with London, Steen with Generico). Both men had faced the former Tag Team champions The Young Bucks in closely contested matches in recent months with their regular partners, the current champions. Both Kendrick and Steen, while capable of being goofy in their own unique ways, are generally looked at as the more focused members of their former teams. And both Brian Kendrick and Kevin Steen are, to put it mildly, slightly disappointed that their former partners won the World Tag Team Championship without them.

The second to last point may prove to be crucial at DIO! when Brian Kendrick and Kevin Steen challenge El Generico and Paul London for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship titles. If Kendrick and Steen are able to cooperate, their greater focus could be the difference in what will undoubtedly be a tightly contested match. However, at DDT4, Generico and London proved that it’s not just focus that wins championships; the ability to take inhuman amounts of punishment and keep fighting had a lot to do with it. Luckily for ¡Peligro Abejas!, both El Generico and Paul London seem to have this supernatural talent, which may allow them to rope-a-dope their way through their first title defense.

JIMMY JACOBS & JACK EVANS vs. PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK – Loser of the fall leaves DGUSA

Evans ran wild on Kendrick and London at ringside before the action came back into the ring. Order was finally restored after Kendrick tossed Evans to the outside and they went to work on Jacobs inside the ring. Evans finally got the hot tag and hit some nice high-flying maneuvers. It eventually came down to Jacobs and Kendrick alone in the ring. Jacobs went for a spear, but missed. Kendrick countered the contra code moments later and hit sliced bread #2, but Jacobs kicked out and the crowd applauded. Jacobs ended up locking in the end time on Kendrick. London went to break it up, but Evans nailed him with a springboard dropkick. Kendrick then tapped out, so heads out of DGUSA.

WINNERS: JACOBS & EVANS

Published: May, 12th by Laura - Filed under: Uncategorized - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

Brian Kendrick and Paul London will reunite their historic tag team this Friday on pay-per-view when Dragon Gate USA presents “Mercury Rising” from Phoenix.

Together, Kendrick and London held the WWE Tag Team Titles longer than any other team in WWE history. However, the fans could always tell that they were being held back. Now this exciting duo will be unleashed when they battle the high-flying Jack Evans and cunning Jimmy Jacobs in a Loser Of The Fall Leaves DGUSA Match. Will this be a one-time-only appearance for London and Kendrick?

“Mercury Rising” will air in the United States on iN DEMAND and TVN as well as in Canada on Bell and Viewer’s Choice. Look for it this Friday at 10pm. There will be a special replay on iN DEMAND on Sunday at 1pm.

We sent out a handful of advance screeners and the first reviews are in for “Mercury Rising” with a May 14th premiere:

“Overall thoughts: (8.0) If you’ve never seen DGUSA, you owe it to yourself to give this show a chance. The last two matches were excellent and you won’t see athletic in-ring action like this anywhere else….If you like innovative, athletic, and exciting in-ring action, order this PPV.” – Sean Radican at PWTorch.com

“The match was a lot more fun to watch with the simpler set-up and it was all crazy spot, spot, spot tag team action.” – Mike Johnson on London & Kendrick vs. Evans & Jacobs at PWInsider.com

Go to the www.DGUSA.tv PPV section for the entire lineup and a preview video. Make sure to catch what is sure to be one of the best PPVs of the year this Friday when DGUSA presents “Mercury Rising” from Phoenix!!!

PWG DDT4 Review
Published: May, 11th by Laura - Filed under: Uncategorized - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

Here is a report Jacob did of DDT4! It’s really detailed, so check it out. You can read the full thing at HitTheRopes.com

Match #2 saw Scott Lost and Chuck Taylor going against the Danger Bees (Paul London and El Generico). The fans cheered on Lost as they showed him they missed him the last show. The Danger Bees were over, though, and London came out with a toy megaphone that Jimmy Hart would always bring to the ring and a poncho. Before the match, there was some bickering between Lost and London which will hopefully be caught on tape.

Before the bell rang, Lost and Taylor attacked the Bees to get the advantage. Chuckie T went for a sick jump to the outside over the ropes, but missed. This allowed the Danger Bees to gang up on Lost while Taylor was outside, trying to recover. Fans around me thought Chuck must have died as they couldn’t see him move. However, after a good beat down on Lost, Chuck finally wakes up and trips Generico which allowed Lost and Taylor to take control of the match.

Lost gets Generico positioned for what he proclaimed to us was going to be the best suplex ever, but Generico counters it to a small package. Lost kicks out and nails Generico with a sick clothesline. London gets on his toy megaphone and announced that he’s seen better suplex’s than that shit which gets Lost angry.

While Generico continues to get destroyed in the ring, London continues to have fun with the crowd by trying to get a Generico chant going, forgetting that his chant is actually Ola! (Editor’s note: I think that’s how it is spelled). Lost pretty much has his way with Generico as he does a submission schooling on him.

London got a blind tag in and then turned on his siren. London gains control of the match and then Generico tried for a suicide dive, but Lost kicked him from the outside. This allowed London to run the ropes and dive onto Lost. Chuck then gets in the ring and beats down Generico until London gets in the ring to help out Generico. Chaos now ensues as all four men are in the ring and after nailing each other, they are all down and out. The ending of the match came when London nailed a Shooting Star Press onto Chuck for the three count. It was a pretty fun match that had comedy and also showcased some good wrestling. The PWG fans love Scott Lost and there are quite a few Chuck Taylor fans, but the majority wanted the Danger Bees to move on. It was a really good first round match and could make for an interesting feud as Taylor and Generico have a LOT of history together.
